Drivers desperately wanted

The shortage of truck and bus drivers is still strong in Europe. The latest survey by the IRU (World Road Transport Organisation) forecasts two million vacant posts in 2026 in the absence of incisive interventions. In the first nine months of 2022, the demand for drivers increased by 40%. The major barriers to the profession are the high costs of obtaining driving licenses and the CQC (Driver Qualification Card) and the minimum driving age which in some EU states is set at 21.

By 2026, 30% of the current drivers employed in the sector will retire and we will not be able to replace this shortcoming except in a small percentage.

This situation leads to risks for road safety, a few days ago an operation by the mobile squad of the Piacenza Police Headquarters, which defeated a criminal activity that recruited foreign drivers (particularly Brazilians) and provided them with false documents to be able to drive vehicles on our streets.

As Roberto Nuti Group we hope that many young people, boys and girls, decide to take up this fascinating profession and that no one jeopardizes the safety of our roads.
