STOP. LOOK. WAVE. VOLVO

More than 260,000 people under the age of 19 die in traffic accidents around the world every year, according to the World Health Organization. Too many of these accidents involve trucks and buses. In 2015, Volvo Trucks took a step towards trying to improve this depressing statistic and launched the Stop Look Wave campaign.

Stop before crossing a street.
Look both ways and make sure you have eye contact with drivers.
Wave and wait for a wave back to confirm that the driver have seen you before you walk across to the other site of the street.

Through traffic research analysis of real-life accidents, it is clear that the majority of road accidents involve human behavior. Children are the most vulnerable of all road traffic users. A challenge was issued to all Volvo employees based around the world. They were encouraged to get involved in promoting safety for their own children and for children in their communities. Since 2017, the Wave campaign has also been promoted in Italian schools.
